Beautiful Bordeaux Day 5

Bonjour Dear Reader,

Today sees us travelling from Pauillac back to Bordeaux, we’ve had a change of plans due to too much water, preventing us from going under a very beautiful, old bridge on the way to Cadilac. The reason for too much water is not just a high tide but the ice that is melting in the Pyrenees! Never mind, our amazing tour guide, Mandy, has formulated a plan for us still to see everything we had booked, but via bus, rather than ship, clever girl. I am writing this post just after breakfast as we have quite the busy day ahead. On our way back to Bordeaux we will be having our cooking class with a Julie Goodwin, which I am so excited about, then once back in Bordeaux we will be bused to Roquetaillade castle for a tour, finishing at 5.30 pm, then back to the ship for dinner.

Last nights dinner-Escargots

Duck with polenta and a red wine reduction

And Pear Tart

After getting back to the ship yesterday afternoon we had an early dinner before being bused to a classical concert at Chateau d’Agassac, talk about stunning, the Chateau was out of a fairy tale and the acoustics for the concert were simply beautiful. We were greeted with a glass of bubbles or a red wine. I kept falling asleep, not because it was boring, just because I was so tired.

It was another late night by the time we got back to the ship and after a cup of peppermint tea and a hot shower, I fell into bed at 11.30. We both slept well and woke at 6.30, we enjoyed a really leisurely breakfast and now I am just finishing this post while drinking another hot cup of peppermint tea while watching the river go by.

It has turned quite overcast and rainy, let’s just see if want we have planned comes to fruition. We have been incredibly lucky with the weather, so much sunshine and warmth, today is totally opposite 😩

Have a lovely day,
Fi
