I only had three days at work this week, as I requested Thursday and today off as an ADO, with yesterday being my Birthday and needing today in preparation for flying out on Monday for the Beautiful Bordeaux Cruise with my darling sister.
Our home has been busier than usual too with an impromptu family dinner last Sunday with my darling niece, her hubby and beautiful grand nieces, also my beautiful daughter is staying with us and working down here for the next couple of weeks. Not that I mind at all, I simply love having family around, I just wish I had more energy and head space to deal with it all. You know your exhausted when you have to write down on the "to do" list, to feed the dogs or you may forget. I am also getting everyone together for lunch on Sunday before my sister and I head off.
On Wednesday afternoon we had an appointment with a really lovely lady who owns Nudgee Road Antiques. I found an old business card in a diary of my late FIL's and was sure it was the lady whom my In-Laws had bought a lot of their Asian Antiques from. I gave her a call and sure enough she remembered William and Sharyn and was happy to come out and give us some idea of how to go about selling/auctioning some of the lovely pieces of furniture. She took 4 small pieces with her and gave us, what we think, was a fair amount for them, so, just like that, I now have an idea of what to do with the large amount of furniture next door and how to go about selling it.
Problem Solved=Relief=Happiness
On the frugal front this week I-
1. Picked the rest of the Lantern Chillies and simply threw them in the Thermomix, blitzed them for 5 seconds on speed 5 and then popped them into a container and froze the blitzed chilli. Once frozen I gave the contained a good shake to loosed the minced chilli so, in future, I can just take a spoon full out at time when I need some heat for a dish.
Pan Fried Wahoo (caught my lovely hubby) with Warm Lemon and Parsley Salad
3. Made double quantities of 4 meals this week so I can fill the freezer with some ready meals for the family while I am away. In the freezer there is-A Salmon, Potato and Pea Frittata, Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff, My Best Red Lentil Dahl and Easy Thai Peanut Chicken Curry.
4. Rode to work on the 3 days I did go, I have finally gotten back on my bike after not riding to work since last September. It felt really good to get back to this daily free exercise.
5. Took snacks and bottles of water with us when we went up the coast yesterday, we drove up to pick up our new camper trailer. JAWA gave us a good couple of hours tuition on how to set it up and take it down. We will be selling our tent and free standing canopy now that we have this camper trailer. We still love camping, I just can't do the big camp set up anymore. I will do a post on the new camper trailer further on down the track.
Your turn, how did you save money this week?
Have a lovely day,
💗Fi
