A Holiday with my Sister

Hello Dear Reader,

At the Brisbane French Festival last year, how appropriate

About a year or so ago, my darling sister was having a rare coffee out (she is also very frugal and doesn't spend money unnecessarily) and she received a free Courier Mail with the coffee so she took it home with her to read. She always loves to read the travel/food/lifestyle section of the paper and on this particular occasion they were advertising an upcoming French River Cruise with Julie Goodwin as the host.

A little while later, she excitedly told me that Julie would be hosting an 11 day, Scenic Cruise called Beautiful Bordeaux and wouldn't it be wonderful to go. After she had told me about it, I thought what a great holiday that would be for us both, combining our love of food with my sisters first proper overseas holiday. We had been to Norfolk Island quite a few times for the Ballroom Dancing Week and even though it is beautiful and a step back in time, it still feels like you are in Australia.

My sister and I are very close, she is my best friend and is one amazing woman. She is a hands on super Nanna/Wonder Woman, a wonderfully supportive Mum and she gives a lot of her time, willingly, to her faith. I don't know how she does all of that as well as work part time. Her health can be challenging with Fibromyalgia and food and chemical intolerances being her constant companion as well as having a big soft, tender heart. I would describe her as fragile but amazingly strong at the same time.

It has been her dream to travel to France and I thought, that as life can be fleeting and unpredictable,  why not go ahead and book this wonderful holiday. It will suit us to a T, we both love cooking and eating great food and will truly appreciate the beauty of this part of the world. Combine it with the opportunity to cruise with Julie Goodwin and we were sold.

I understand it is very much a luxury to travel, but I feel being thrifty and frugal most of the time enables us to enjoy life's little luxuries. We can't wait to go and will be leaving for this wonderful holiday in just over a months time. We are both so excited.
