My Goals for 2019, an Update

Hello Dear Reader,

I have posted here about my goals for this year, and have already acted on four of those goals, I thought we would just go ahead and strike while the iron is hot, so to speak, motivation and acting on your goals in a timely manner is everything as far as reaching your goal are concerned.

So far we have installed a irrigation system for the new raised garden beds, we went for small spray/drip taps that will sit under the mulch keeping the soil moist to encourage good root development. Unfortunately just as we were finalising the new, high speed, pump when we ran out of water! Now if it will only rain, we'll be set. I mentioned a few days ago that we won't we planting out anything until it rains, I won't use mains water to irrigate as the charges are so high. We have also started getting quotes for a concrete slab and 3 x 2000 litre slimline water tanks (another goal) to be installed so that when it does eventually rain we will never run out of water again.

The other big goal we have acted on is having Plantation Shutters installed in our home. It is a large expense, but one that we have wanted to do for a long time. When we built our home, 16 years ago we installed timber blinds and they have been good however overtime they have been damaged by moisture from rain coming in on them, we have no eaves and if we are not quick enough to close the windows, rain gets directly on them.

The other thing I dislike about the timber blinds is they are hard to clean, dust seems to adhere to them and as they are many slats per blind it takes me a very long time to clean each blind. The shutters are being installed this Friday and I can't wait to see the transformation. Apparently they are very easy to maintain and always look fresh and bright. We have gone with the Modern Group for quality and service.

The next goal I have acted on is finishing a quilt for one of my little Grand Nieces, I am ashamed to say this little quilt was supposed to be for her 3rd birthday and this year she will be turning 6! Better late than never. The actual top has been finished for a long time, so on Sunday I sandwiched the bamboo batting and the backing material together and started quilting it. The quilt design is from The Missouri Star Quilt Company and is called the "Eye Spy Quilt" I just love all the bright designs. Can you work out the pattern? They are quart jars and I have done a piano key boarder to use up some or the left over fabric.

How are your goals going for this year? And how do you make sure you keep up the momentum?

Have a lovely day,
💗Fi
