I was on another blog yesterday, watching her latest video which was about trailing a meal delivery service, I did one, just for fun and because I had a discount voucher for it, a while ago, too. The host of the blog said quite a few times that she loved the no waste concept of the service, only delivering what you will need to make the meals, and it is true. I was reminded of this video while looking at the photos below of what we had bought the previous week and how little I actually have left of it.
From last week, from the first photo below, I have 3 slightly overripe bananas which will be going in these pancakes for lunch today, half the lettuce, 1 cucumber and the centre parts of the celery, these will be used up in the next few days in lunch time salads.
The sausages, in the second photo were all use up.
From the third photo I have 2 lovely ripe avocados (hello breakfast) some of the block cheese (I froze the other half) and half a packet of grated mozzarella has been used but the danish feta is all gone and the parmesan block hasn't been opened yet. The dog mince is frozen down into meal size portions and there is half a container/bottle left of the sour cream and cream, again these will be used up in a timely manner.
From the fourth photo we have the packet of semi dried basil left (LH purchased this as he couldn't find any fresh basil), we have used half the ball of mozzarella the other half will be used on pizzas for tomorrow nights dinner, the sesame oil is a pantry staple and there is half a box of orecchiette left, again a pantry staple, there is enough pure cream left for coffee's this week and lastly the soda water (used for tempura batters) and the energy drinks (LH uses these when he goes out fishing) are shelf stable.
So even though there is a lot of food, all of it has either been used, will be used very soon or is shelf stable, that means there is absolutely no waste.
