This Weeks 5 Frugal Things on a Friday

Hello Dear Reader,

I've just had my first full week back at work, and of course, it feels like I never left, or indeed had all that time off. Never mind, it is a means to an end. I do however have two shorter weeks coming up, we have the Ekka show holiday on Monday and the next Monday is a requested day off, just one of my accrued days off, I try and have one of those a month, so that's something to look forward to.

I have settled back into my old routine of rising early, letting Ninja out, preparing our fruit salads and muesli for breakfast, doing a bit of blogging, having breakfast and then getting ready for work. I love rising early, I won't say it's easy, but it is so worth it just to have some peace and quiet before the day begins. I leave for work at about 7.15 am and get home by 4.10 pm, it is a very short commute, in fact  you can see the hospital from our home. I haven't started riding my bike as yet, but I have every intention of doing so, very soon...Ha!

Once home I get straight into washing up my lunch containers, repacking my lunch for the next day and then throw myself at my list, whatever jobs I have written up for myself in the morning before leaving for work, then it's on to dinner, clean up and into bed early. It's quite the organised afternoon, but I like it that way. I thrive on routine, it gets me through the day with less stress.

Now on with the frugal stuff-

1. Made another batch of homemade Muesli for our breakfasts, it is easy to make and full of goodness

2. Blitzed one of the turkish rolls we took away with us to Bunya Mountains, that didn't get used, into breadcrumbs and popped the container in the freezer for later use

3. Made 2 little Banana and Raspberry Loaves from 3 daggy bananas that were hanging about in the fruit bowl, after we got home from out week away. I had an open bag of frozen raspberries in the freezer and there was exactly 1 cup left which is what was needed for the recipe-SWEET!
I will share the recipe soon, it is very easy and super yummy.

4. We were gifted a big bag of huge strawberries (we had also bought some on the way home from the Bunya Mountains at a road side stall as well) some of these huge strawberries were a little soft and blemished, so I just sliced off the imperfect bits, gave them some love in the form of a tablespoon of icing sugar, gave them a gentle stir, let them sit for an hour in the fridge then we had them with ice-cream for a rare dessert. The rest have been used up for our breakfast fruit salad.

5. Packed my morning tea and lunch every day for work, I know I post this one quite often, so I suppose I really shouldn't do it week in week out. But if there is one thing I am passionate about it is preventing food waste, I will take and eat anything that needs using up. Here is what I took for yesterdays lunch-

Pork and Fennel Sausage with Colcannon, Greek yoghurt with macadamias and peanuts (I add some honey to this at work before I eat it) a slice of Banana and Raspberry Loaf and my one piece of dark chocolate.

That's my 5 frugal things, I would love it if you joined in with how you've saved money this week.

Have a lovely day,
💗Fi
