Our fence was finally completed during the week, now the hard work begins. Lovely Hubby has to jackhammer concrete away from the front of the metal poles that hold the concrete sleepers, it should have been levelled off when it was still wet, but it was a bit of a slap-dash, really couldn't care less, kind of situation, which really is such a shame. As we weren't present when it was done, by the time it was discovered it was too late. Once that mess of concrete is removed, he then needs to box up and add a concrete footing for the concrete sleepers to sit flush on to prevent soil from leaching out. A layer of geo-textile matting will then be added to the inside of the garden beds before soil is added. Phew! it is a much bigger job than we thought, but we want it done right the first time.
The view from our side, see the lumpy concrete that is in front on the metal poles, that is what needs to be removed, all the way along...
And from our Son's and Partners side
It was Lovely Hubby's birthday during the week and we celebrated by going out to dinner to our little local Chinese Restaurant, he only wanted a small affair, so it was just our little family. As always the food was totally delicious and there was some left over, which we took home and ate for dinner last night. We supplied the fish for the Sweet and Sour Fish and the chef, Michael, did a superb job of it. Along with the fish we had, Peking Duck, Hot Sour Soup, Salt and Pepper Squid and the duck meat in a stir fry with noodles and Bean Sprouts. All totally delicious.
