Remember the Fig Trees?

Hello Dear Reader,

As they were

A while ago, I had a very sick fig tree which I decided to try and save. We had owned the two, potted, Moreton Bay Fig Trees for well over 20 years and thought it would be a shame to lose one after all that time. You can read about how we rescued and repotted the sick Fig here.

Well, fast forward almost a year and this is what we have today.

Our Daughter's Partner intends on taking over this fig tree when they eventually move down here and build their home. He loves and is very good at the art of Bonsai and he believes this fig will be an ideal specimen to Bonsai.

As for the other Fig that was it's matching mate, unfortunately it was blown over in a wild storm while we were away camping earlier this year and the pot was smashed. To buy a new pot was going to be too expensive so we decided to give that bare rooted Fig away.

My late in-laws had three huge potted Figs so we have bought over one Fig tree from next door and have one more to bring over when both the boys are home. They are really big and heavy and the last one that was bought over, was extremely difficult to manoeuvre. There may have been lots of bad words said!

Have you ever saved a really sick, almost dead plant? How did you do it?

Have a lovely day,
💗Fi
