This Weeks 5 Frugal Things on a Friday

Hello Dear Reader,

This past week has been a delightfully short four day working week, with the public holiday for the Queens Birthday last Monday. We used the long weekend to start planting out our new raised garden beds and if you missed it, I posted about our progress yesterday.

Sometimes I wonder if I repeat myself too much, I know I have some regular readers that read everyday, so to hear the same thing repeated might be driving the regulars crazy. Anyway I guess I write to keep my regular readers interested but also to hopefully gain new readers as well.

I write everyday because I want to, it has become such a part of my life that it is just my normal. I have done a bit of research lately on bloggers that write everyday and the consensus is that writing this way doesn't attract new readers and this has been my experience also. However while I am still enjoying the ride, while I have something new to share and while I still have readers popping in everyday, I will keep it up. On average I have about 600 to 1000 people reading everyday so I must be doing something right.

Tell me do you read everyday? How many blogs do you follow? And what topics interest you?

Now on with my 5 frugal things-

1. Picked a couple of big bunches of Mustard Green from our Vegepod, to go with dinner, two nights. I so look forward to the time when this will be a regular occurrence. I plan to succession plant, planting out a few more seeds for asian greens every couple of weeks.

2. Saved the warm up water from the showers to water the potted fig, the potted kaffir lime tree and some potted agave.

3. Made some Ginger and Pear Muffins to take to work for our shared monthly morning tea, using ingredients already at home. I bought the pears on a marked down special last week, they were perfect for this recipe. I poached them in a Ginger and Cardamon Syrup using this recipe and simply adding a good wedge of ginger and 1/2 a teaspoon of ground ginger. I can't seem to get enough ginger at the moment.

4. Made another batch of muesli, I just love the combination of toasted oats and roasted nuts and seeds.

5. Used up all left overs in a timely manner, with our son and partner now moved in next door, it is only lovely hubby and I now for dinner. I can see I will have to adjust the amount I have cooked in the past, I do love leftovers but I don't want to eat the same thing 3 nights in a row.

Over to you, how did you save money this week?
