I only got to the supermarket once this past week, to check out any marked down specials, but that's okay, it will make up for my four trips last week. I do love a bargain but I don't want it to consume my time and my life.
I am finding the amount of meat we eat ebbs and flows, I think it comes down to my mental state while making up the menu for the week ahead. If there is meat on the menu, I have this lingering little voice that keeps asking, was the animal well cared for and humanly treated during its life? There was quite a lot of meat marked down on Thursday afternoon, especially lamb and pork, but I didn't buy any. After seeing this wonderful program on Landline recently, it really made me think about where our meat comes from and did the animal have a good life. This idyllic pig farm just north of us is doing things completely different and are letting the pigs have a real free range life.
I want to order some of this Rhodavale Pork but it is sold in bulk and as I only have a small inside freezer, we will need to organise freezers in the shed a bit better as they are full of fish and bait. I had one upright freezer that was to be used exclusively for meat but somehow it was taken over by fish, fish frames and bait. Not happy Jan!
