I have been a bit down at the moment, there is not any one thing in particular that is making me feel this way, but I know I am just not myself. I wake with a heaviness that I have never experienced before and seem to dwell on things out of my control when I can't sleep at night. It doesn't happen every night thankfully, but is draining. When I do wake in the morning I review what was on my mind and I am able to see that the huge mountain I created was nothing more than a molehill. Quite silly really.
So to counteract these not so nice feelings, I try to highlight to myself the things that are making me happy, here's my happy list for today-
The lovely sight of a new day steaming in our front door. I try to get up early, most days I am up at 5am. Our little cat Ninja now has a cat enclosure that keeps her safe, however she does like a little stroll out the front very early in the day. It is safe and she doesn't move far from the front door. After I have fed her we wander down to the front door, I unlock it and out she pops. I then leave the door open for a while to air the house.
The little dogs enjoying their pool after a long afternoon walk. It has been really hot this week and I fill their little pool every morning with fresh water and they hop in and out during the day to cool off. But when they get home from our walk they dive straight in and stay there for a while.
The lovely help and support we receive from our daughter, she is staying with us at the moment, working down here for a few weeks. It is always delightful to have her here and she is a great help to me. She cooked dinner for us on Monday night while I made a focaccia, she followed this recipe on the blog and it was just so delicious. She is wise beyond her years and is so practical and down to earth. We love her dearly.

The morning sun in my kitchen always makes me smile. I have posted a few photos on Instagram using the hash tag "Morning sun in my kitchen". My kitchen is in the centre of the house so it doesn't get a lot of natural light, but for a short time in the morning the rays fill the kitchen with bright happy beams.
The sight of new healthy growth on the citrus trees in our raised garden beds. I posted an update on what's happening in the garden (hint, not much) yesterday. This new growth is giving me hope that at last we are doing something right.
The one thing that is going right in the garden is the vegepod, it's going gang busters with two rogue tomato bushes that have come up by themselves, dwarfing the Italian parsley I have growing there. The mustard green, which is also growing in there, is going to seed so I will collect more seeds soon. The healthy green leaves makes me smile, as does free plants.
What is making you smile today?
Have a lovely day,
