This Weeks 5 Frugal Things on a Friday

Hello Dear Reader,

What is better than an ordinary Friday? It's the Friday before you go on a weeks holiday, that's what! On Sunday we are going camping to our most favourite place in the world, Noosa North Shore. It is just the most beautiful place and I can truly relax there. There is nothing to do except fish, walk the beach,  look for shells, eat, sleep and repeat. We will be away for a week and for me it is the ideal holiday.

Over the years we have collected really good quality camping gear, so our camp is very comfortable and weather proof, although I don't enjoy setting camp up (I am just not very strong) once it is set up it makes for a great week of frugal fun.

Tomorrow will be super busy packing for camping and cleaning house, I have quite the long list already written for tomorrow, I find if I write it down it has more chance of actually being done rather than just an idea floating around my busy mind.

We have let the fridge and fruit bowl run down of perishable food, as our son will be doing his own thing as far as food is concerned, so that is one less thing for us to worry about. The only perishable item I have in the fridge is 3/4 of a pumpkin, so tomorrow I will roast it and freeze it ready for a soup when it gets cooler. Love no waste.

Now on with the frugal stuff-

1. Kept and cut up the off cuts of fresh lasagna sheets, from when I made a Roast Pumpkin and Ricotta Lasagna last Sunday. I have cut the lasagna into the width of Fettuccini and will use it up tonight when I make an Alfredo sauce to go with it. The lasagna sheets were too wide and long for the dish I wanted to use, so I simply trimmed them up. Love no waste

2. To prevent waste, I store cut pumpkin in foil, tightly wrapped like this it keeps for ages.

3. Picked 2 Red Paw Paws from our tree, of all the things I grow, the Paw Paw tree is my most treasured. I grew it from seed and is now a big prolific tree.

4. Line dried all the washing

5. Packed my lunch every day for work, todays morning tea and lunch consists of:

A Cacao and Honey Chia Pudding for morning tea and a cobbled together "leftover" lunch of the last slice of Roast Pumpkin and Ricotta Lasagna, Lemony Warm Potato Salad and Upmarket Mushy Peas, and of course, my 1 piece of dark chocolate, all really yummy and a lunch to look forward to.

Now it's your turn, what fab frugal things have you been up to this week?

Have a lovely day
💗Fi
