As I mentioned last week, our daughter and partner have been down this way working and also to celebrate our daughters birthday, so we've had extra bodies in the house. Although you wouldn't know it, they are perfect house guests and except for a few family dinners they have done their own thing, visiting friends and other family as well as working long hours.
Our daughter will be with us for a little while longer, while her partner flew home on Wednesday for work and to keep their home fires burning. They have two beautiful cats (Bengals) as well as a lovely female dachshund, unfortunately they lost their male dog earlier this year. They are lucky to have an excellent house sitter to take care of their pets while they are out of town.

So even though we have had extra family in the house, we have just done our normal thing of living a quiet and simple life. We had three family dinners, last Thursday, Saturday and Wednesday, then it was just lovely hubby, our daughter and I for last nights dinner.
Along with extra family comes extra food in the house, I have to admit I feel quite overwhelmed when I have more food in the house than usual. Our fridge and fruit bowl have been very full, but I still made sure all food was used in a timely manner and made sure nothing went to waste.
Along with this frugal trait here's what else we got up to on the frugal front-
1. Made some fabulous pizzas with the leftover roast lamb from our daughter birthday dinner. I use Jamie Oliver's recipe for the pizza dough, that we learnt at the last Jamie's Ministry of Food, you can find the recipe here.
2. Rinsed the quinoa for this wonderful Chickpea and Quinoa Salad over a bucket to catch the water, our water charges are eye watering, so I save as much water as I can. Quinoa takes a lot of water to rinse properly.
3. Froze the rest of the dill I used for this Salmon, Pea and Potato Frittata.
4. Used up some squishy bananas in this recipe
5. Cooked at home for our family dinners

5a. Couldn't help but sneak this one in, I used up the rest of the large amount of tomatoes I had bought a couple of weeks ago, by slow roasting them, I used this recipe and they are just divine.
That's a wrap, join in, what did you get up to on the frugal front?
Have a lovely day,
💗Fi
