This Weeks 5 Frugal Things on a Friday

Hello Dear Reader,

Well, it's the end of another working week for me, although it was a short week, as I had Monday off as an ADO. That was my last accrued day off, as I am now working shorter hours, I don't accumulate ADO hours anymore. I don't mind though, having that extra hour and a half to myself in the morning is glorious. I can still request days off but those hours will come out of my holiday and long service leave.

My mornings are spent in my home, some cleaning, some cooking, some gardening, whatever needs my attention, I also give the little woofs a quick walk in the morning. It's amazing how quickly dogs get used to a routine, they know the minute I've finished my breakfast that I will go and get changed and take them for a walk, they watch my every movement.

Even though it is the silly season I have continued my frugal ways, only buying what we need for the week ahead and as we've all been delegated what to cook for Christmas day we will be buying less this week compared to previous Christmas grocery shops. I am quite looking forward to a slightly more relaxed Christmas day, I am roasting the lamb, lovely hubby is in charge of the pork and I am making this lovely Sticky Ginger Pudding.

For Christmas eve I will be making this Christmas Pavlova and a batch of Turkey, Cranberry and Walnut Savoury Rolls to bring to work for our shared Christmas Lunch and that evening we are having a little get together with my Niece and her little family. We bought Aldi's Salmon Wellingtons to bake as a cheeky shortcut and I will be making a double batch of this Quinoa, Cranberry and Almond Salad plus this Banoffee Pie for dessert. Wow looking at it, that's a lot of food to prepare, but each one is quite simple and I will have Lovely Hubby to help.

Now on with the frugal wins this week-

1. Ate a couple of fish meals this week, as Lovely Hubby catches the fish it is virtually a free meal.

2. Made two loaves of light rye bread, I finally drove up to Morayfield to Simply Good to purchase the rye flour, I haven't had any in ages and it felt good to be baking bread again.

3. Made a double batch of these gluten free Banana Pancakes for lunch on Monday to use up 4 slightly squidgy bananas.

4. Made a batch of Christmas Cinnamon Biscuits to take to work to add to the lolly bar as part of our Hospital wide Christmas Decoration Competition. I had all the ingredients at home already so there was no extra outlay of money.

5. Froze a portion of beef ragu to have for a Friday night "On Toast" dinner, I love having something in the freezer to bring out when I am feeling tired at the end of a working week.

I've done it again, haven't I? It's all about the food.

Have a lovely day,
🎄Fi
