Last weeks grocery bargains will definitely help reduce next weeks grocery budget, that is my theory anyway. When I go hunting markdowns I always look in the fresh fruit and veg section first, then the meat section, followed by the bakery then a browse through the fridge items such as yoghurt and cheese. It is basically just around the perimeter of the store, so it very quick to do, about 30 minutes from when I leave home till I drive back into the garage.
It is all the time I will allow for this hunting of marked down produce, I don't want to get sucked into wasting anymore time than necessary.
Here is what I found marked down this past week-
The grapes are absolutely lovely, however I normally try not to buy fruit from overseas, it wasn't until after I bought them that I noticed they were imported. This is the first time I will be trying Kalettes, a combination of kale and brussels sprouts. I saw them on Landline a few months ago. I have found a corker of a recipe and will post it if it tastes as good as it sounds.
2 packs of flat buns, I used them on Sunday with roast BBQ pork and coleslaw
The chicken wings will be used at a late date. The yoghurt was lovely and was used up last week over our fruit salads for breakfast. The salmon will be used for lunches
Although not an actual markdown the rolled pork shoulder was a very good price of $6 a kg and I thought $6.73 was an excellent price for a whole free range chicken. Both the pork and chicken were roasted in the BBQ. The mushrooms were baked with Spinach, Bacon and Feta stuffing, recipe also coming week.
A bunch of organic celery for $1.50 was cheaper (although wrapped in plastic) than the non-organic celery and cream always comes in handy and was reduced to $3.48. The celery went into the coleslaw and some of the cream was whipped to go with strawberry jam and light as air scones

So all in all, some lovely meals from marked down produce.
Have a lovely day,
