As I set about each Friday thinking of how I saved money to post on my "This Weeks 5 Frugal Things on a Friday" I run through my day and week and all the aspects and areas of my personal life and the work I do in my home. As I seem to do the same things week in week out I feel those Friday posts have become very similar.
So I sat down and really thought about items that I simply don't buy anymore either to save money or to try and lessen the burden on our planet. Here is what I came up with.
1. Household Cleaners
-I now use only a handful of products to clean the house-White vinegar, Bicarb, Eucalyptus Oil, this homemade glass cleaner and this home made paste cleaner. I have eradicated everything else. The bulk store I go to stocks washing soda and dish washing liquid so I can now buy these products package free. I now just have to try and find white vinegar in a glass bottle or in bulk.
2. Plastic garbage bags
-For a while there I was using a type of plant based compostable bag that was meant to be kinder to the environment. I now use an old fabric gift bag to collect the small amount of rubbish that cannot be recycled or composted. I empty this little bag into our very big but very empty garbage bin, once or twice a week.
The wire frame used to hold a small plant based compostable garbage bag, until now
-I only use coconut oil to keep my very short hair styled and conditioned.

4. Take away tea and coffee-For me, I bring a tea plunger or tea infuser, a container of loose tea leaves and a small thermos plus a mug or Keep Cup where ever I go, and for LH we bring our stainless steel coffee plunger plus ground coffee
-This is quite easy as I really don't go out all that much, if I do I usually bring some nuts in a reusable container to keep me going
6. New Clothes
-When I need something new, I hit the many wonderful Op-shops we have on the Peninsula. I can usually find what I'm looking for. The clothes are all in nearly new or actually new condition. I only buy underwear, socks and pyjamas new from places like Kmart or Best and Less.
7. Fabric softener
-I haven't used any fabric softener for many years, there really is no need
8. Disposable razors
-We have happily used this razor for a long time now and love it. We bought replaceable blades in bulk, on line for a very good price. They will probably see us out
-We just don't, we are so used to eating at home that it just doesn't occur
10. Paper serviettes
-I have a really good selection of cloth serviettes that, again, will see us out
Have a lovely day,
💚Fi
