I took this photo while on a bike ride through Bordeaux
Well, I can say that it is almost over, the settling and clearing of my late In-Laws home. It has been a very challenging experience to say the least. Thank heavens that I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.
You can see all the divots in the carpet where all the furniture was, this lounge was full. The furniture left in it is what our son wants to keep
The rest of the furniture is being picked up on Thursday by a local Antique Dealer, the beds in the spare bedrooms will be picked up sometime in August by a Co-Worker, our Son has chosen to keep a few pieces, really the only thing that hasn't sold is the dining setting, I do have that on Gumtree for a ridiculously low price but I still haven't had anyone interested.
It's such a beautiful setting and yet no interest!
I am still finding bits and pieces in overlooked places and cupboards, even yesterday afternoon when I was moving some items to take next door to our place, I put them in a pile in front of a small cupboard, when I looked at it, I had a terrible thought, oh my goodness I haven't opened that one yet. Of course it was full, so another load of stuff will go to Lifeline today.
I didn't think to do a before and after of the whole house, but I did take some of the office before I started clearing it. I have put all the bric-a-brac in there for the time being as I really don't know what to do with it all, maybe the lady from the local Antique shop will offer to take it?
Before
After
Before
After
As for the rest of the house, this is the after-
The formal lounge-all these pieces are going except for the carpet and the rosewood cupboards to the left
There are two of them and we will be bringing them next door
The asian chests and lamps are going
These 2 single beds are going
This prayer altar in coming next door to us, we keep finding random bottles of red wine everywhere😉
This bed and bed side tables are also going
There are two of these enormous chests of draws plus the mirror on top that are also going
Phew, that is so much furniture. I would love someone to discover it, take it home and love it forever. I hope my late In-Laws understand why we didn't want to keep a lot of the furniture, it just isn't us. It was theirs and their lifestyle, we don't need it in our life.
Have the loveliest of days
