Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food-Week 1

Hello Dear Reader,

As I mentioned in this post, my sister and I are doing Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food, 5 week cooking course. It is designed to introduce you to basic kitchen skills and to teach you some great recipes, cooked from scratch.

Week 1 was all about breakfast-

Omelettes-made with 2 eggs, basil, dill, parsley, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and parmesan cheese

Baked Granola-made with oats, mixed nuts, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, coconut, cinnamon, raisins, cranberries, apricots, maple syrup and olive oil

Pancakes-made very simply with 1 egg, 1 cup SR flour and 1 cup milk, they are called "One Cup Pancakes" for the obvious reason, they were served with a natural yoghurt, mashed banana and cinnamon mixed through, as well as the granola and berries

It was a really lovely class, with like minded people and the food was just delicious. We get to eat what we cook and then take the rest home. We ate the delicious omelette , plus a plate of pancakes and we made a large batch of the Granola at each table so we divided it three ways and took a container home each. From next week on, we get to take home a complete meal (enough for 3 to 4 people) which I think is excellent value for money. The whole 5 week course costs $100, so $20 a week, bargain!

The teacher demonstrates the recipe then we go to our cooking station and replicate what she has shown us. See one, do one and then teach one is the concept.

Has anyone else had the opportunity to attend one of Jamie's cooking classes?

Have the loveliest of days
