I have again highjacked my normal very cheery and upbeat "Sunny Side Up Sunday" post with something that is everything but. I started this week (last Sunday) clearing out my late in-laws home, I knew there was a lot of stuff, I didn't, however, realise the extent of it.
Over the course of a week, I have cleared quite a bit from their home, I still think it of theirs as everything I touch was theirs, they sat at this table, they ate from this plate, they read this book, they listened to this music. I really don't know, in the scheme of things if what they had accumulated is considered more than normal, it is certainly more than what my darling Parents left behind. But that is comparing apples with oranges at the end of the day. I have found the sheer amount of stuff suffocating and has tipped me over the edge emotionally.
I got very upset when clearing out one cabinet in particular as it is in the dining room, where we sat countless times having family dinners and I knew from looking at it all those years what was in that cabinet. When I cleared it out today, I was astonished at how many things were never used in the 30 plus years that I had been in this family. Things so precious that had never been used...
Message for today-Use the good China, bring out the Silver, drink from Crystal, if you own it, use it. Don't wait until it is too late, live every day as if it's your last, one day you'll be right.
Sorry to be a sad sack, I thought it would be tough but I didn't think it would be this hard.
