Hello Dear Reader,
A snapped a quick photo of Nigella, sorry, terrible quality, we weren't supposed to take any photos!
As you know by now, I don't watch a lot of TV but I do watch a few programs, Gardening Australia, Landline, the Channel 9 NEWS and if we are still eating dinner after 7pm, we sometimes watch "The Project" on channel 10. That is where I found out that Queen Nigella was coming back to Australia. I have seen her live before, in 2016 and I wrote about that
here.
The view from our seats
So, I hopped on line immediately and bought two tickets to see this beautiful lady, I have been a long time fan of Nigella since her first book "
How to Eat" and her first TV series "
Nigella Bites" aired in 1998, over 20 years ago. I used to tape her show on a video (who remembers them) and watch them over and over, I loved them so much. I love her unadulterated lust for food, the making and the eating of, it is very clear it brings her joy to both feed people and to eat the food she makes.

An Evening with Nigella was held at the Concert Hall in QPAC and was the perfect venue to host this lovely informal chat with this lovely lady. It was packed to the rafters with lots of people bringing in and buying her cookbooks for her to sign. I didn't do either as I knew we would have to leave straight after the event had finished, as we had to catch both bus's and trains into the venue and took us 2 hours to travel in.
This was because of interruptions on the main train line into Brisbane, normally it takes 50 minutes to get the train from our local train station into South Bank. Of all the days for this interruption to occur, we were not pleased at all, but it was totally out of our control. Neither of us like to drive into the city and parking is a nightmare, so public transport it was. We also dislike travelling at night so we opted to get home ASAP.
For the first half of the event the interviewer (I don't know her name) asked a series of questions to which Nigella answered concisely, honestly and with finesse and confidence. It was quite informal and relaxed and as usual Nigella looked stunning. She wore a flowing red dress with elegant neutral coloured wedges. The second half was given over to the audience to ask a question to Nigella, I'm not a confident public speaker and at that time I couldn't think of an appropriate question to ask her. Many people did though and a lot of the questions were clever and thought provoking.
On the way home I finally did come up with a question I would have asked her "You once said that you are greedy but never wasteful, how do you prevent food waste in your kitchen?" I wonder how she would have answered?
Over to you, what question would you have asked Nigella?
Have a lovely day,
💗Fi
