I am trying to be more conscious of how our grocery items are packaged, opting for recyclable packaging if possible. I know recycling isn't the answer or solution, but it is slightly better than the landfill option. So with that in mind I looked for cat food packaged in steel cans, I found one and it was on special so I bought 8 cans, unfortunately our very spoilt little black cat, Ninja won't have a bar of it, so those tins have been taken to the animal refuge and we had to go and buy her preferred sachet cat food, the things we do!
The other packaging I would like to avoid is the plastic containers that berries come in, again they are recyclable but wouldn't it be lovely if they came in little cardboard boxes or sold loose so you could fill your own container, like we saw at the markets, when we were in Bordeaux last year. I really love berries and will still buy them, so ultimately, it's my consumer choice that keeps these berries in plastic packaging, occurring.
Here's what we bought, spent and ate this week-
What we bought
Fruit and Veg from the Northside Discount Fruit Barn, how I wish our Australian berries came in little cardboard baskets, like in France.
Shopping from Coles, I thought we would try our cat Ninja, on a canned variety of cat food instead of the sachet kind (because of the recyclability of the cans) guess what? She won't eat it! So we had to buy her the normal one she likes, talk about spoilt!
Beef mince from Marjax Meats |
The Aldi shop
Shopping from Simply Good, the bulk store
