Hello Dear Reader,
Today I am grateful for my marble topped/island bench/storage unit/thing-y. We bought it from a great little second hand store years ago. When I saw it, I just knew I had to have it, all I could think of was how perfect it would be for rolling out pastry and kneading bread dough on. See it's always about the food!
My Grandmother, on my Mums side, had a fabulous kitchen, even for those days (Circa 1950's), my Grandfather was a carpenter and built their home, as well as ours, in Gympie, from the ground up. Papa installed a large sheet of marble into the kitchen bench for Nan to make biscuits, pastry and scones on. I would say very progressive for those days. Nan sure could cook, so could Mum and so it goes.
The above still life, was happening on the above mentioned marble topped/island bench/storage unit/thing-y yesterday afternoon-
Pumpkin seeds drying, dog treats cooling and a freshly cut (home grown) pumpkin air drying before some of it being use for a salad for dinner and rest being put away in the fridge.
It is probably my most favourite second hand/thrift store find.
It features every week on the "What we bought, spent and ate this week" post
What are you grateful for today?
