This Weeks 5 Frugal Things on a Friday

Hello Dear Reader,

Does it feel like someone has pressed fast forward on this month to you? It certainly does to me, the days are flitting by and I really don't like it. My days consist of a few hours of house or garden work before I leave for actual work, then home in the afternoon finishing the house work for that day, then on with dinner, cleaning up from dinner and then it's bed time, it's all becoming a bit of a blur.

I like to always have something on my horizon to look forward to and at this stage I have a day off later this month, then in April there are lots of public holidays for Easter and ANZAC day, so that is something to look forward to. Our next little holiday is in May, we are going camping up at Noosa North Shore and at this rate will be upon us in a flash.

I really can't wait for the day when I can retire so I can spend all my days at home just pottering, sewing, gardening, baking and cooking. It is a long way off so for now I just need to be content with my, fast forward, days.

Here's what I got up to on the frugal front-

1. Cut up the rest of a very large red capsicum that was bought a few weeks ago, I then placed it in a air tight container with a cloth napkin in it, I find this preserved the capsicum, preventing waste. I just checked it again and it is still perfect.

2. Sliced and froze the loaf of bread I made last weekend, we don't eat a lot of bread and as it has been so hot and humid still I didn't want to risk losing it to mould.

3. Made five little Oat and Banana Pancakes to use up one daggy banana, I simply halved this recipe, I popped some butter and maple syrup over the top while they were still warm and took them for my morning tea for two days at work.

4. Used Bicarb Soda to clean the glass stove top, I find it works really well and brings the glass up really clean and shiny. I use a flour shaker to store the cleaning Bicarb in, simply shaking out the required amount then I use a damp cloth to clean the surface, then I rinse and polish.

5. Defrosted and cooked a portion of this Banana Pancake Mixture for a treat for Sunday lunch, a bit naughty but oh so delicious. I had made the batter up and frozen it before we went on our little cruise in early February, again to use up a couple of daggy bananas. As you can see, I dislike waste of any sort.

Your turn, how did you save money or time this week?

Have a lovely day,
💕Fi
